ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY

Astro-English: from Astronese, the word extraterrestrial is used in this context for its primary sense as a noun to denote “a hypothetical being from outer space” which, when conjoined to the suffix -ism which denotes “a formalised belief”, comes to establish the general affirmation “that life beyond Earth exists” without making a specification as to the sentience or sapience of such life.
